University of Houston head football coach Kevin Sumlin announced Tuesday that redshirt-junior linebacker John McIntyre's knee injury against Texas State in the opener was a torn ACL. He will miss the remainder of the 2010 season.
"John had a great training camp and was a key player on four different special teams units in addition to his role at linebacker," said Sumlin. "I am disappointed for him but know he will work hard rehabbing to get back and help this team."
McIntyre has played in 27 game for the Cougars and tallied 35 tackles, including 2.5 for loss. His best game came vs. Rice in 2009 with nine tackles against the Owls.
