HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball program announced that room is still available for the Cougar Pitching and Catching Camp slated for Sunday, Sept. 5.
Cougar Pitching & Catching Camp is designed for those interested in improving their fundamentals of pitching and catching. Pitchers will engage in numerous drills to implement correct fundamentals, increase accuracy, and increase speed. Catchers will participate in drills to improve throwing, blocking and framing.
Head coach Kyla Holas, assistant coach Abbie Sims and the 2010-11 Cougars will conduct each camp, a time of the year the whole program looks forward to.
"We really enjoy fall camps because the groups tend to be a little smaller, so we get to work more one-on-one with the kids," Holas said. "It's also fun because that's the chance the kids have to meet all of our newcomers and spend some time with them. That's our chance to introduce them to UH and get them involved in our program and what it's all about."
Each camp is open to players ages 8-18 and is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. at Cougar Softball Stadium. The cost to attend camp is $85 for those registering online. Walk-up registration is available at $100 per camper. Players signing up for more than one camp will receive a discount.
To register for each camp, visit CougarSoftballCamp.com. To conduct the drills, each camp has a 10-player minimum sign-up requirement. Any camp with less than 10 participants will be canceled. For more information or any questions contact assistant coach Abbie Sims at asims@central.uh.edu or call 713-743-9304.
