HOUSTON - Former Houston sprinter and current Cougar graduate assistant Seun Adigun won the 100-meter hurdles at the Confederation of African Athletics Championships on Thursday. Adigun set a season-best with her 13.14 finish in the finals. Adigun, representing Nigeria at the games, completed her first year as an assistant sprints and hurdle coach at the University of Houston.
The UH alumnus adds a African Championship title to her impressive list of accolades. Adigun was an NCAA All-American and Conference USA Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2009.
Nigeria currently stands in third place with nine medals trailing Kenya and South Africa with ten each. The competition ends Sunday August 1st.
It is the second international title for a Cougar sprinter in as many weeks for one of head coach Leroy Burrell's pupils. Errol Nolan took gold in the men's 4x400-meter relay at the IAFF World Junior Championships.
