HOUSTON - University of Houston head volleyball coach Molly Alvey and her staff will host summer camps inside the Athletics/Alumni Center throughout the month of July.
The summer schedule kicks off July 19-21 with the specialty camp. The session is open to current high school students that need specific work on their positions. There will be detailed instructions for setters, liberos, middle hitters and outside/opposite hitters. All positions are encouraged to attend.
A skills camp will take place July 22-24, with a focus placed on all skills at the junior high level and a special emphasis on correct technique. The participants will be trained in a positive coaching environment to promote the enjoyment of the sport, while improving their skills as a volleyball player.
The summer will then conclude with the elite camp and the team camp. The elite camp will take place on July 26-28 and is available to all experienced high school volleyball players. They will learn advanced techniques during the camp and campers should expect training similar to a collegiate practice.
The team camp is an opportunity for high school teams and groups to get a head start on the season and will be held July 29-31. The camp will emphasize six-on-six drills, wash drills, team offense and defensive strategies. The staff along with current and former players will run all the demonstrations, drills and tournament.
A coaching clinic for coaches of any level will also take place on July 24-25.
