HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team lost the second game of a three-game series to Tulane, 15-2, Saturday night at Cougar Field.

The Cougars never led the contest, which went five scoreless innings before either team was able to put a run on the board. With the loss, UH falls to 20-25 on the season and 7-10 in Conference USA.

William Kankel went six innings, allowing five runs on three hits with four strikeouts. He was charged with the loss and falls to 2-5 on the season.

At the plate, Caleb Ramsey went 2-for-3 to lead the team, while M.P. Cokinos earned both RBIs in the game.

Neither team could get anything going offensively until the sixth inning, when with two runners on base, Tulane's Jeremy Schaffer doubled to right field, giving the Green Wave a 2-0 lead.

Houston cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning, scoring a single run when Joel Ansley scored on Cokinos' sacrifice fly to right field after he earned a leadoff walk.

The Green Wave would then add to their total and extend their lead to eight, 9-1, in the top of the seventh, scoring seven runs. They would tack on four more in the eighth for the 13-1 lead.

Ramsey led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a double to left center before scoring on a Cokinos' single up the middle.

Tulane would then score two runs in the ninth for their final total of the game.

The series against Tulane will conclude on Sunday at 1 p.m. Following the series, Houston will host Texas A&M in a mid-week match-up on May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
