Conference USA Baseball Championship Set for May 26-29 at Cougar Field

HOUSTON - The University of Houston continues preparations to play host to the 2010 Conference USA Baseball Championship beginning May 26 through May 29 at Cougar Field.
First pitch of the Championship is slated for 11 a.m., May 26. Games are set to be played at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., during the first three days of the Championship. The Championship game - which airs live on CBS College Sports - is scheduled for 7 p.m., May 29.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647) or at UHCougars.com.
The Championship begins May 25 with select members of each team visiting Texas Children's Hospital. The players will meet and play with children and hand out autographed memorabilia.
A NEW FORMAT
For the first time in the history of the event, the C-USA Championship consists of pool play with each team guaranteed three games. The six teams will be split into two pods with the first pod containing the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 seeds and the second pod having the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 seeds.
Each team plays the two other opponents in its pod and one opponent outside of its pod. The team with the best composite record in each pod advances to the championship game.
CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS
All-Session reserved tickets are now on sale for only $95 with All-Session general admission tickets selling for $75. Day passes and single session tickets, if available, will go on sale May 25 at 8 a.m.
Students from all C-USA schools are admitted free with a valid school ID.

ABOUT THE COUGARS
Entering this weekend's series against Tulane, the Cougars are locked in a three-way tie for the sixth and final seed with UAB and the Green Wave. Houston is coming off a series victory at UAB last weekend, giving them the tiebreaker over the Blazers.
The Cougars start an eight-game homestand at Cougar Field this weekend with a three-game series against Tulane. The series begins at 6:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday and wraps up at 1 p.m., Sunday.
Following the Tulane series, the Cougars play host to in-state rival Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday.
