HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team's series opener against Conference USA-rival Marshall was rained out Friday night after heavy rain moved through the area prior to the game.
The game will be made up as a Saturday doubleheader, beginning at 11 a.m., at Cougar Field. The nightcap of the twinbill begins 45 minutes after the completion of the opener.
In Saturday's opener, sophomore righthander Michael Goodnight will make his 13th start. He is 4-7 in those games with a 5.48 ERA and a team-high 69 strikeouts. Ian Kadish will be the starter for the Thundering Herd. He is 2-5 this season with a 6.46 ERA.
William Kankel will start Saturday's second game for the Cougars, opposite Mike Mason of Marshall. Kankel is 2-5 in his senior season with a 6.19 ERA, while Mason is 2-6 with a 7.71 ERA.
Live stats and the live audio broadcast will be available for all three games of the series by logging on to UHCougars.com. The live video stream will also be available on the Houston athletics web site.
With the changes to the schedule, the Cougars also made alterations to their Senior Day plans. Instead of Saturday night, the Cougars will honor their four seniors prior to Sunday's series finale at 11 a.m. Houston will honor the four members of the 2010 senior class: William Kankel, Barry Laird, Zak Presley and Chris Wallace.
