HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team will hold its first spring scrimmage this Saturday, April 10, at 11 am at the Carl Lewis International Track and Field Complex located behind the Athletics/Alumni Center. The scrimmage is open to the general public.
The scrimmage marks the midway point of the Cougars spring drills. Houston is slated to practice two times next week before another scrimmage next Saturday. The Cougars culminate the annual rite of spring with three practices the week of April 19 and then the Red-White Game at noon on Saturday, April 24, on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
Houston returns nine starters from last year's offense that ranked No. 1 in scoring, total offense and passing. Senior quarterback Case Keenum, who finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting last year, is back in 2010 to continue his quest to eclipse all the UH, Conference USA and NCAA total offense and passing marks.
Defensively, the Cougars switch to a new 3-4 attack and have seven returning starters to work with.
The Cougars begin their 2010 season on Sept. 4, when they host Texas State at Robertson Stadium. Season tickets are available by calling 713 GO COOGS or logging online at www.UHCougars.com.
