Baseball Hosts UTSA At Cougar Field Tuesday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team will play their fourth straight game at Cougar Field on Tuesday night when they face-off against UTSA at 6:30 p.m.
Houston enters the contest with a 12-10 record and has won two straight games. UTSA is 9-13 on the year and dropped three to Sam Houston State over the weekend.

James Conlee is expected to earn his second career start against the Roadrunners. In five appearances, the Georgetown, Texas, native has gone 7.1 innings, surrendering four hits and one unearned run with four strikeouts. In his last start against California, Conlee went five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits with a strikeout.
Against Houston, UTSA's Justin Martinez will be making his second start on the mound. He has pitched 9.1 innings in seven appearances, allowing eight runs with five strikeouts.
At the plate, Zak Presley leads the Cougars with a .387 batting average. He was 7-for-14 last week in four games with a double, triple and five RBIs. Blake Kelso is batting .367 on the year with three doubles, a team-high four triples and a home run.
Last weekend, the Cougar offense connected on 12 extra base hits in a 2-1 series win over UCF to open Conference USA play. Travis Trial and Austin Gracey each hit their first career home runs on Saturday.
As a team, UTSA is hitting .247, with Ryan Rummel leading the way at .417. He has hit five doubles, a triple and three home runs.
Wednesday's contest between the two schools will be the 22nd overall meeting in the series that started in 1992. UH is 14-7 all-time in those games, including a splitting two games last season. The Cougars lost the first game, 14-8, at Cougar Field but traveled to San Antonio to clinch a 14-7 win later in the year.

Following the mid-week contest, Houston will travel cross-town for a three-game series April 1-3 against Rice at Reckling Park. The games on Thursday and Friday will start at 6:30 p.m. and the finale on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The first two games of the series will air live on Comcast Sports Southwest (CSS).
