HOUSTON -- University of Houston football fans can start making their plans early for an exciting season by purchasing their 2010 season tickets today.

THE TEAM
The Cougars return 46 lettermen, including 9 offensive starters, from last season's squad which led the nation in scoring, total offense and passing yards per game.
Leading the way is quarterback Case Keenum, who threw for a school-record 5,671 passing yards and became only the second player in NCAA Division I-FBS history to enjoy multiple 5,000-yard passing seasons during their careers.
The Abilene, Texas, native is looking to become the first player in NCAA Division I history to enjoy three 5,000-yard seasons in 2010.
When the Cougars move the ball through the air, wide receivers James Cleveland, Tyron Carrier and Patrick Edwards are the top targets. A year ago, that group combined for more than 3,200 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns. They became the first players to enjoy 1,000-yard receiving seasons in the same year.
THE HOME SCHEDULE
Robertson Stadium will be the place to be in 2010 as the Cougars play host to six exciting games. A year ago, the Cougars won all six home games at Robertson Stadium to extend their school-record home winning streak to 15 straight games. Houston has not sent the local fans home disappointed since Sept. 29, 2007.
The Cougars also enjoyed big wins in front of big crowds at their home stadium, including a 29-28 win against Big 12 Conference member Texas Tech in front of a record crowd of 32,114
The season opens Sept. 4 when the Cougars meet Texas State.
From there, the Cougars open Conference USA play when they meet UTEP at 9:15 p.m., Sept. 10, in a Friday-night game televised live on ESPN. That will be the first of two Friday-night games for the Cougars, who square off against C-USA rival UCF on Nov. 5 game in a game carried on ESPN2.
After facing Tulane on Sept. 25, the Cougars meet Southeastern Conference member Mississippi State on Oct. 9. This will be the first time since 2003 that the Bulldogs will visit Houston. A year ago, the Cougars enjoyed their fourth straight win against MSU after a 31-24 win in Starkville, Miss.
The Bulldogs finished 5-7 in Dan Mullen's first year as head coach. However, three of those wins came against teams that competed in bowl games.
Following three straight road games, the Cougars meet UCF on Nov. 5 and then wrap up their regular-season home schedule against Tulsa on Nov. 13.
