HOUSTON - Each week during the 2010 season, the University of Houston baseball team will feature one member of its team as the Player of the Week. The goal of having a Player of the Week is to give fans a chance to get to know the Cougars off the field.
This week's featured player is freshman pitcher Eric Brooks. The Taylor, Texas, native has made three starts this season and is 1-2. He turned in 4.2 innings of relief against Arizona State on March 21, giving up one run on three hits with four strikeouts. On the season he posts a 8.27 ERA with 14 strikeouts.

Why did you come to Houston?
For a chance at a great education and to try and help build the Cougar baseball program to Championship status.
What is your favorite part about the game?
Being on the mound and controlling the flow of the game.
What has been your favorite moment in a Cougar uniform?
Moment is still to come.
What is your major and why did you choose it?
Right now I am undecided. If pro baseball isn't an option then hopefully I can be a high school or college baseball coach.
What is one food you can't live without?
Chinese food from Panda Express

What was the last book that you read? Was it for business or pleasure?
Beowolf. School.
Is there any player that you try to mold your game after?
Although we don't play the same position I try and follow in the footsteps of Derrick Jeter.
What is your favorite non-baseball sport?
Track because I was successful in high school and am naturally fast.
What is one memory that you won't forget after your time at Houston?
Building a strong bond with my teammates and hopefully winning a conference championship here.
