Two Games Against SFA Open Week For Cougar Baseball

HOUSTON - After spending 10 days on the West Coast, the University of Houston baseball team returns to Texas for two mid-week contests against Stephen F. Austin.
The week begins with a 3 p.m. contest against SFA at Jaycees Field in Nacogdoches, Texas, on Tuesday before UH returns to Cougar Field for a 6:30 p.m. game against the Lumberjacks Wednesday. The contest will mark the first home game for the Cougars since Feb. 28.
Live stats and the live online radio broadcast will be available for both games by logging on to UHCougars.com. Wednesday's game will also be streamed online through the All-Access site.
Houston is 9-9 this season after playing eight games in California and Arizona last week during spring break. The Cougars opened the week with a sweep of Cal Poly before splitting games at San Francisco and California. UH closed out the trip by dropping three games to No. 1 Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
At the plate, Joel Ansley leads the Cougars with a .382 batting average, a team-high six doubles, two triples and a home run. His 10 RBIs are tied for the second most on the team.
Mo Wiley will get the start in Tuesday's game against SFA's Jared West. Wiley has pitched 13 innings with 18 earned runs and 16 strikeouts, while West is 2-0 in four starts with a 4.67 ERA.
James Conlee will make his second consecutive Wednesday start for Houston, facing off against Zack Taylor of SFA. Conlee tossed five scoreless innings against Cal on March 17, surrendering just three hits. In 7.1 innings of work this season, the freshman has only given up one unearned run with four strikeouts. Taylor will make his third start for the Lumberjacks, posting a 1-0 record and an 8.03 ERA in 12.1 innings.
SFA enters the week with a 13-5 overall record after splitting games with Northwestern State over the weekend. Jordan Lewis holds a .524 batting average with two doubles and a home run to lead the Lumberjacks.
Following the two mid-week contests, Houston will open Conference USA play at Cougar Field with a three-game series against UCF on March 26-29.
