Goodnight, Baseball Team Earn Weekly Honors

HOUSTON - Sophomore pitcher Michael Goodnight continued to pick up accolades following the University of Houston baseball team's victory over No. 3 Texas on Saturday. Goodnight threw seven scoreless innings and set down nine batters on strikes while scattering two hits during his impressive performance.
Goodnight leads the team in wins with his 2-1 record and posts a 3.78 ERA. He is striking out 1.3 batters per inning for a total of 22 strikeouts this season.
The Houston native was selected as the Central Region Pitcher of the Week chosen by CollegeBaseballInsider.com for his third award this week.
In addition to Goodnight being selected as Pitcher of the Week, the Cougars were an Honorable Mention for CBI.com Team of the Week after bouncing back from a loss at Rice to go 3-0 at the Houston College Classic, including two shutouts.
Goodnight was also honored by the College Baseball Foundation as a selected member of the National All-Star Lineup following his outing against Texas. The All-Star Lineup is a weekly list of the organization's weekly Players of the Week.
This is the fourth weekly award for the pitcher. Goodnight was also named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week and was named to the Houston College Classic All-Tournament Team.

Houston hits the road for a 10-day road trip to California and Arizona from March 11-21. The road trip begins at Cal Poly, continues at San Francisco and California and concludes at Arizona State.
