HOUSTON - Each week during the 2010 season, the University of Houston baseball team will feature one member of its team as the Player of the Week. The goal of having a Player of the Week is to give fans a chance to get to know the Cougars off the field.
This week's featured player is sophomore third baseman Jake Runte. The Houston native started 31 games at third base in his freshman campaign. He finished with a .228 batting average, with five doubles, two triples and two home runs. Runte also recorded the Cougars only grand slam in 2009.
