Series Against Santa Clara Awaits Baseball at Cougar Field

HOUSTON - The University of Houston looks to rebound against Santa Clara this weekend when they host the Broncos for a three-game series at Cougar Field.
Friday and Saturday's contests are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with first pitch of the finale set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Houston will look to bounce back against Santa Clara after losing a three-game series to Texas State last weekend. The Cougars were led by junior Blake Kelso last weekend. The Pflugerville, Texas, native went 5-for-13 with a double and a triple.
Sophomore Michael Goodnight turned in 4.2 innings of work on the mound, allowing just one hit, two runs and five strikeouts.
This weekend's series will the first ever meeting between the two programs on the baseball field. The Broncos went 1-2 last weekend against Nevada, falling in the first two contests but taking the finale. At the plate, during the opening weekend, Lucas Herbst led all batters, going 8-for-10 with a .800 batting average.
Jon Hughes earned the Broncos' win on the mound, going six innings while giving up four runs with seven strikeouts.
Following this weekend's series, Houston will embark on a 13-game road trip that begins at Rice on March 2. Then Houston will compete in the Houston College Classic on March 5-7 and then make a west coast trip to California and Arizona on March 12-21. The road trip will then end at Stephen F. Austin on March 23.
