HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team returns to action at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday night to play host to No. 19 Georgetown at Hofheinz Pavilion.
The Cougars last played at the Duel in the Desert Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev., posting convincing wins over No. 21 Nebraska and (RV) Louisville before falling to Marist in the championship game.
Brittney Scott helped lead the Cougars with 17.0 points in the three contests, while Porsche Landry was named the Conference USA Player of the Week after posting 21.0 points and 5.0 assists in the first two games. The tournament also saw the emergence of Jasmine Johnson, who averaged 10.0 points off the bench, while Courtney Taylor registered two more double-doubles to push her school-record total to 48.
The Cougars are prevalent at the top of both the C-USA and national rankings. Houston leads the league in scoring offense (77.4 ppg), scoring margin (+9.1), rebounding (44.5 rpg) and blocked shots (5.2 bpg). Taylor leads C-USA and ranks eighth nationally in rebounds per game (11.7), while placing third in the nation with eight double-doubles this season.

Tuesday's contest has been designed as the annual "Pack the Pavilion" game, and is sponsored by Hilton Houston Plaza Medical Center. All general admission tickets are only $2 apiece, and the first 100 fans will receive a free Houston Basketball shirt.
ABOUT GEORGETOWN
Georgetown returns three starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's squad that went 26-7 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Hoyas are ranked as high as No. 19 nationally and are 10-3 overall and 4-3 away from home. Georgetown has won three straight since losing back-to-back road contests against Miami and Rutgers.
Sugar Rodgers, last season's Big East Rookie of the Year, leads the Hoyas with 17.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while Rubylee Wright has added 7.8 points and 5.6 assists per contest. Georgetown is averaging 64.8 points per game, while holding its opponents to just 56.2 points per contest.
SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the Cougars and Hoyas. Georgetown will be the second Big East team that Houston has faced this season, as the Cougars defeated Louisville (92-80) on Dec. 19.
