Cougar Fall Draw Field Announced

HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team will host the 2010 Cougar Fall Draw in its last action of the fall season this weekend at John E. Hoff Courts. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The 11-team field includes Arkansas State, Lee College, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, UALR, UTSA and UTPA. The draw consists of five flights of singles and two flights of doubles.
The first two rounds of the singles main draw will be played on Friday, with the last action tentatively scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. Two rounds of doubles play will kick off Saturday morning, followed by two rounds of the singles main and consolation draws. Sunday will begin with the semifinals and finals of the doubles main and consolation draws, followed by the singles main and consolation draw finals.
The Cougars have competed in three tournaments this fall, claiming three individual titles. Sophomore Maja Kazimieruk earned the singles title in her respective flight at the Rice Invitational on Oct. 10. Bryony Hunter and Giorgia Pozzan kicked off the season by claiming the doubles title at the Islander Open, while both advanced to the singles final before play was canceled.
"As a team, we're just looking to continue the success we've had so far this season," said head coach John Severance.
