1. Senior tight end Wesley Scourten blocked a Southern Miss field goal to end the second half to record his fifth blocked kick of the season and ninth of his career.
2. The block was picked up and returned 89 yards by Tyron Carrier for the touchdown was the first of his career. It is not documented when the last time it occurred at UH.
3. Junior receiver Patrick Edwards recorded his fifth 100-yard receiving game with 125 yards. He also scored his 23rd career touchdown, which ranks fifth in school history, tying Ken Herbert.
4. Senior wide receiver Kierrie Johnson recorded his sixth touchdown reception of the season and 12th of his career on a 54-yard reception from Piland.
5. True freshman quarterback David Piland threw for a career-best 467 yards, which also is the most by a quarterback in M.M. Roberts Stadium history. He passed 2,200 for the season. He has thrown for at least 250 yards in six of seven games (233, at SMU, Oct. 23) to open his collegiate career. He has passed for 300 yards or more in three games.
6. Piland has thrown at least one touchdown pass in seven straight games to open his collegiate career. He recorded his first game with 50-plus yard passes with his 68-yarder to J. Johnson and 54-yarder to K. Johnson.
7. Piland's 68-yard pass to Justin Johnson was the longest of both their careers. Piland's previous high was a 66-yard pass to Kierrie Johnson against Tulsa and J. Johnson's longest previous catch was a 32-yarder against Memphis in 2009.
8. Junior running back Michael Hayes' 43-yard reception from Piland in the second quarter was the longest of his career.
9. With five receptions in tonight's game, junior wide receiver Tyron Carrier recorded a catch in his 38th consecutive game, every game of his collegiate career.
10. Senior receiver James Cleveland posted 9 catches and 115¬ yards receiving vs. Southern Miss to move into the Houston all-time top-10 lists in both categories. He now has 2,014 yards and 161 receptions which rank 10th.
11. With his start tonight vs. Southern Miss, junior linebacker Marcus McGraw recorded his 38th career start, which is the most of any active Cougar, passing Case Keenum's 37 starts.
12. Sophomore kicker Matt Hogan scored 11 points tonight to improve to seventh on the school's all-time kick-scoring list with 164 career points.
