HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball program will welcome Houston native, Jennifer Hooker to the team for the 2011-12 season.
The multi-talented athlete has been playing softball since she was six years old. Hooker is a left-handed pitcher with a skill set to play both infield and outfield.
"Jennifer has the most passion and work ethic of any signee we have had in years," head coach Kyla Holas said. "Her pride in being a Cougar makes our excitement for next fall rise every time we see her."
Following her junior season at James E. Taylor High School in Katy, under the direction of head coach Billie Powell, Hooker was named Team MVP and First Team All-District Utility Player.
After the completion of her sophomore year, she was named All-District Honorable Mention Pitcher.
At the end of her freshman season, Jennifer was named All-District Honorable Mention Infielder.
Hooker plays alongside fellow class of 2011 signee, Kayla Holland, on the Houston Power tournament team. The two combined to finish ninth at ASA Gold Nationals in 2010. She also played on the 2006 AFA U12 National Championship team, the Texas Showdown.
