HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team introduced the four new signees to its annual Cougar Cup tradition Saturday afternoon.
Head coach Kyla Holas and assistants Abbie Sims and Kristin Vesely split the team into two different squads to battle it out through several games. The team to win the most games claim rights to the Cougar Cup.
Themes from previous seasons include Fear Factor-type games and eating contests. This season, the team elected a "In It to Win It" theme. The coaching staff lined up an entertaining list of contests, highlights consisted of "Face the Cookie", "On the Nose" and "Suck it Up."
Showing no fear, two girls from each team donned pantyhose on their head filled with a tennis ball used to knock a line of cups over.
Families of the four newest Cougars, signees Jennifer Hooker, Jaime Edwards, Kayla Holland and Summer Groholski were on hand to watch nearly two hours of team bonding leaving little doubt as to why current members of the team boast about its chemistry.
In the blue vs. red match-up, the blue team won the Cougar Cup by a narrow margin.
