HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team resumes the fall season this weekend at the Rice Invitational at Jake Hess Stadium in Houston.
The eight-team field consists of Lee College and Texas State, as well as Conference USA members Rice, SMU, Tulane, UAB and UTEP.
"We're all excited to get back on the court," said head coach John Severance. "The players are ready, especially the new freshmen who will get their first collegiate experience. We've had some very spirited practices and are ready to get back into competition."
The Cougars enjoyed a successful start to the season at the Islander Open on Sept. 18-20, as Bryony Hunter and Giorgia Pozzan claimed the doubles title with three consecutive victories. Hunter and Pozzan both also went undefeated in singles play and were scheduled to meet each other in the finals before play was cancelled due to inclement weather.
