"I am excited about this upcoming season," Holas said. "We have a strong schedule that will hopefully prepare this young team by the time conference comes around."
Houston opens the 2010 campaign with back-to-back tournaments at the Cougar Softball Stadium, debuting in the Marriott Houston Hobby Classic on Feb. 12-14 followed by the Marriott Houston Invitational on Feb. 19-21. UH plays host to Ohio State, Louisville, Kansas, Baylor and Sam Houston State for the Hobby Classic and welcomes Louisiana-Lafayette, UTSA, Purdue, Iowa State and Texas for the Houston Invitational.
The Cougars travel to Waco, Texas for a doubleheader against Baylor on Feb. 23 before returning to tournament play in Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Tiger Invitational on Feb. 26-28.

The team takes a short break from Conference USA action on March 16 in a doubleheader against North Dakota State before hitting the road to face UCF in Orlando, Fla., on March 20-21. The Cougars spend a week at home to play Georgia Tech on March 23 and UTEP on March 27-28. The team concludes March action at Louisiana-Lafayette in a twin bill on the 30th.
Houston travels to Birmingham, Ala., on April 2-3 in a tilt against UAB before heading home for a doubleheader against Prairie View A&M on April 6 and a series with Memphis on April 10-11.
The Cougars then hit the road to square off against Tulsa, the defending C-USA champions, on April 17-18 followed by a matchup with Texas State on April 21 in San Marcos, Texas.
The team concludes its home schedule on April 24-25 when the Cougars play East Carolina. Houston wraps up the regular season in Huntington, W. Va., when it faces Marshall on May 1-2.
Houston plays host to the 2010 C-USA Championship on May 13-15. Serving as a league host is not unfamiliar to the Cougars as this will be their third time in program history to welcome the prestigious event.
