HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team wrapped up its final week of training camp Friday morning on the UH practice fields.
With classes starting Monday, the team will move to its regular game-week schedule.
"This morning was our 16th practice, and the guys are tired so we cancelled tonight's practice and tomorrow we will hold a light scrimmage," Sumlin said.
Head coach Kevin Sumlin and the Cougars will be back on the field Saturday morning for an 11:30 a.m. scrimmage at the Carl Lewis International Complex. The event will be open to the public and will be the last chance for fans to see the team before the season opener on Sept. 5.
Pre-scrimmage workouts inside the Athletics/Alumni Center are closed to the public, and fans are asked not to cut through the facility on their way to the scrimmage.
SEASON OPENER
The Cougars open the season at 4 p.m., Sept. 5, when they play host to Northwestern State on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. It will be the first of six regular-season home games for the Cougars this season.
Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, Ted Pardee providing color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sidelines. The pregame show is slated to begin one hour before kickoff.
