Cougars Prepare For First Day In Full Pads

With the fourth day of practices in the books, University of Houston head football coach Kevin Sumlin and his coaching staff have their sites set on tomorrow's workout, the first for the Cougars in full pads. Houston has practiced the last few days in just helmets and shorts, and then helmets, shorts and shoulder pads.
Despite strapping the gear on for full contact, Sumlin sees his team as being ready for the full-pads workout.
"I think the players are used to the practice schedule," Sumlin added. Everybody has a routine down. It is pretty much the same routine, but a little bit different during the one-a-days. Tomorrow is the last of the one-a-day practices, and we'll be in full pads tomorrow for the first time."
After Wednesday's practice the Cougars will have their first two-a-day workout on Thursday, leading up to the squad's first scrimmage on Saturday morning at Robertson Stadium. The scrimmage marks the first time the Cougar faithful will be able to see Houston in action this preseason.
