Kevin Sumlin Texas Summer Road Tour Begins June 1

HOUSTON - University of Houston football head coach Kevin Sumlin will be traveling to four cities in the state of Texas during the month of June as part of his Texas Summer Road Tour.
Sumlin kicks off the tour with an event at the Texas Star Golf Course and Conference Centre in Euless, Texas, on June 1. It will be a part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Alumni Club Golf Tournament.
In addition to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Sumlin is scheduled to visit Austin (June 16), San Antonio (June 17) and Beaumont (June 25).
The Kevin Sumlin Texas Summer Road Tour is sponsored by the University of Houston Athletics Department and Cougar Pride in conjunction with the University of Houston Alumni Association.
Sumlin begins his second season at UH in 2009 after a record-setting 2008 campaign. In his first year as a head coach, he guided the Cougars to an 8-5 overall record, including a 34-28 win against Air Force during the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. It was the program's first bowl victory since 1980.
He was one of only 10 first-year Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches to guide his team to a bowl game and was one of only six to win a bowl. With eight wins, Sumlin also established a school record by a first-year head coach.
Under his leadership, the Cougars established 22 season and career records and ranked second nationally in both total offense and passing yards per game. Quarterback Case Keenum finished as the nation's leader in total offense yards per game, while defensive end Phillip Hunt ranked second nationally in sacks per game.
