HOUSTON - University of Houston head football coach Kevin Sumlin and his coaching staff will join forces with cross-town rival Rice and its head coach David Bailiff and coaching staff to plan and coordinate a coaching clinic on May 8- 9, 2009, at John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
The clinic will benefit the Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Foundation.
The Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Foundation was formed with a specific mission to provide immediate as well as long-term resources and support to individuals sustaining a catastrophic spinal cord injury through activities associated with high school football. Founded in 2003, the organization continues to support the needs of injured high school athletes and their families that are dealing with the day-to-day challenges that living with a spinal cord injury presents.
The Cougars are in the midst of their third week of spring football, practicing up to Saturday, April 18, when the Red and White game will take place at noon at Robertson Stadium.
