Softball Set to Host C-USA Rival UAB

HOUSTON--The University of Houston softball team returns to Conference USA action when they host UAB in a three-game series at Cougar Softball Stadium beginning with doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The series will conclude with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.
The Cougars (15-16, 4-4 C-USA) enter the series after a doubleheader sweep at Sam Houston State Wednesday.
Senior Elaina Nordstrom continues to lead the Cougars with her batting average of .357. She has five doubles, four home runs and 23 RBI. Senior Laurie Wagner hit two doubles against Sam Houston to bring her total to eight this season, which is second on the team behind senior Haley Valis who has nine. Wagner leads the team with 25 RBI.
Sophomore Baillie Lott has an ERA of 2.93 with a 7-6 record, while sophomore Amanda Crabtree has a 7-9 record and 106 strikeouts recorded this season.
Junior transfer Lindsey Olson made her first appearance in the UTEP series and first start against No. 13 Missouri. She recorded her first win against Sam Houston and is now 1-1 this season.
The Blazers (11-20, 4-8 C-USA) are led at the plate by Martina Landrum who is has a .366 batting average, five doubles and two triples. Amanda Allen leads the team in RBI with 23 after hitting five doubles, and six home runs.
In the circle, Lindsey Croft has an ERA of 3.62 with a record of 5-11. She has struck out 82 this season.
Houston leads UAB in the all-time series, 18-6.
