Conference USA Announces Academic Medal Winners

IRVING, Texas - Eleven University of Houston student-athletes were awarded the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for the 2008-09 academic year, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced Friday.
They joined a group of 394 student-athletes from around C-USA to receive the honor. The total number of recipients increased by more than 17 percent this season.
Women's soccer, men's track and field, softball and volleyball each had a pair of medal winners, while baseball, women's basketball and football added one apiece toward the final tally.
The medals are awarded to those C-USA student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.
