Baseball Loses Rematch With Sam Houston State, 11-2

Huntsville, Texas - The University of Houston baseball team lost the rematch with Sam Houston State, 11-2, on Tuesday night at Dan Sanders Stadium.
In the rematch from the four hour game on March 10 that saw the Bearkats leave Houston with an 18-16 lead, Houston was unable to even the series this season.
The Cougars put together a two run first inning, but from that point on UH was only able to muster three more hits and no runs.
After Blake Kelso flied out to right field to open the game, Zak Presley recorded the Cougars first hit of the night, a single to left field, and Caleb Ramsey put to runners on base with a walk. With two outs, after a strikeout off Chris Wallace, William Kankel hit his fourth double of the season down the right field line, scoring Presley and Ramsey for the early 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, the Cougars once again put two runners in scoring position but they were unable to convert the base runners into runs.
After a scoreless second and third inning in the game, Nick Zaleski gave the Bearkats their first run, hitting a double down the left field line, while scoring Braeden Wiley who reached base on a single to right field. Sam Houston State went on to regain the lead after the initial run; scoring five runs to take 5-2 lead.
The Bearkats added to their total in the sixth inning, scoring two runs off a single from Ryan Mooney and Justin Keithley hit a triple to the right field corner to score a third run for Sam Houston State.
The hits kept coming in the bottom of the seventh for Sam Houston State as Tyler Knight slammed a three-run home run to give the Bearkats an 11-2 lead.
Houston had a chance to score in their final at bat, loading the bases with two outs but Kelso grounded out to the pitcher to end the game.

Houston will travel to Millington, Tenn., for a three-game series against Memphis at USA Stadium. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m
