HOUSTON - After winning the three-game series at Tulane last weekend, Houston will take a break from Conference USA play and welcome UT Pan Am to Cougar Field for a weekend series, after a mid-week game at UTSA.
Houston starts off the week with a Wednesday game against UTSA at 6 p.m. in San Antonio. The Roadrunners enter the contest with a 15-10 record after going 1-2 last weekend against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. They will travel to Texas A&M for a Tuesday game before hosting the Cougars.
UH is 13-5 all-time against UTSA and have won eight of nine games against the Roadrunners under head coach Rayner Noble. Jose Hernandez leads the way at the plate for UTSA with a .391 batting average, with 11 doubles, a triple and nine home runs. On the mound Clay Schrader has a team-best 3.90 ERA in 32.1 innings.
This will be the second time this season that the two schools will meet. UTSA won the first meeting with a score of 14-8. The Roadrunners scored 14 runs on 14 hits, while Houston scored their 8 runs on 12 hits but gave up three errors in the loss.
Following the mid-week game, Houston will take a break from league play and host UT Pan Am in a three-game weekend series. The series marks the first time since 1995 that the two programs will meet on the baseball diamond and only the third time under Coach Noble. The Cougars split in double-header on Feb. 15, 1995 with scores of 6-0 and 6-7.
The Broncs are 5-22 on the season and will travel to Lamar for a Tuesday game against the Cardinals. They went 0-3 last weekend against New Mexico State. UT Pan Am is led at the plate by Abraham Garcia. He holds a .368 batting average with five doubles and one triple. On the mound, Marcos Martinez has a team-best 5.87 ERA in 15.1 innings of work.
Live stats through game tracker will also be available for all games.
