Tennis' Kacprzyk Named C-USA Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas--University of Houston sophomore tennis player Joanna Kacprzyk was named Conference USA Tennis Player of the Week after finishing 3-0 in both singles and doubles this week.
Kacprzyk helped the Cougars to improve to 15-2 overall with their wins over Weber State, Utah State and Idaho State last week. Houston is also 3-0 in C-USA play.
All three of her singles wins came at the No. 2 spot. She paired with Lynley Wasson to notch two wins at the No. 2 position and a win at the No. 1 spot. Against Utah State the sophomore battled Bridgette Strickland in her only three-set match of the week and was able to take the win, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
The Warsaw, Poland native is 12-4 this season in singles play, including a perfect 4-0 record at the No. 2 spot. She has won eight of her last ten matches. In doubles, the duo of Kacprzyk and Wasson hold a 10-4 mark.
This is Kacprzyk's first career weekly honor.
Kacprzyk and the rest of the Cougars will be back at John E. Hoff Courts on Saturday to compete against Texas-Pan American at 11 a.m. Houston will then host C-USA rival Tulsa on Sunday at 11 a.m.
