Softball's Wagner Named C-USA Hitter of the Week

IRVING, Texas--University of Houston softball senior Laurie Wagner was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week along with Tulsa's Skylar Swanson for her fourth career weekly honor and the first this season.
Wagner went 10-for-19 last week, including a 3-for-3 performance against Texas in game two of a doubleheader, hitting a home run, a double and a single.
In a17-9 win over UTEP Saturday, Wagner went 4-for-5 with two RBI. Wagner extended her hitting streak to seven games with a single in the final game of the UTEP series.
The Houston native currently holds the second-highest batting average on the team at .325 and is tied for the team lead with 27 RBI.
Wagner and the Cougars return to action Tuesday at Cougar Softball Stadium when they take on No. 13 Missouri at 5 p.m. A second game against the Tigers will be played at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
