Baseball Loses Series Opener to Pacific, 13-1

HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team dropped the series opener to Pacific, 13-1, on Friday at Klein Family Field in Stockton, Calif.
Trailing 7-0 in the sixth inning, Codey Morehouse and John Cannon both reached base on a walk. With runners on base, David Murphy hit a single through the left side, scoring Morehouse for the Cougars lone run of the night.
Following the one run in the sixth inning for Houston, Pacific added to their total in the sixth scoring two runs and scored three in the seventh and one in the eighth to close out the game.
Houston gave up 15 hits on the night, marking the second consecutive game that a Cougar opponent ended the game with double-digit hits, while UH was held to just five hits. Despite the 15 hits, Pacific left 10 runners stranded on base.
LOOKING AHEAD
Houston will continue the series with Pacific on Saturday at 7:35 p.m. CT and the series will conclude at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday.
Following the series Houston will return to Houston for a mid-week game at Lamar on March 17 and UH will host Rice in the second game of the Silver Glove Series on March 18. The Cougars will open Conference USA play on March 20-22 against UAB at Cougar Field.
