HEAD COACH Joe Curl
Opening statement:
"I was really happy with our team the whole game but they saw an ugly side of me when it was four minutes left in the game. I'm going to coach every second of the game. I'm not necessarily trying to beat somebody by 40 or 50 points, but you're going to compete every four minutes.
"I was very pleased with our basketball team with the exception of one area and that was offensive rebounds that we gave up. Quite honestly the deposition I have and the rough edges I have are because of the last four minutes. Those minutes build on more minutes you can have in the future. Those are very, very important minutes. However, I'm very pleased with our team. It was a great win, and we just kept building the lead."
On Houston's speed:
"These girls understand their role, and they execute it well. We have one of the fastest teams from the point guards to the post. It would be our recommendation to run as much as possible no matter who we're playing. A big part of our offense is pushing the ball."
On the high-scoring game:
"We had six girls in double-figures and one girl with eight points. That's pretty hard for the defense to lock us down when they're playing like that. Obviously Britney (Scott) stuck out like a sore thumb, it wasn't really a quiet 27 in the first half. Everyone was going crazy for her on the bench."
JUNIOR FORWARD Lesslee Mason
On her double-double:
"Basically, my job is to rebound so I focus on getting every rebound possible and points just kind of come with it."
JUNIOR GUARD BRITTENY SCOTT
On running and creating fast breaks:
"We watched film and saw that they pressed a lot so our objective was to get the ball out as soon as we could to get fast breaks."
On her family being at the game:
"My grandma said about 60 or 70 people were coming. I play in front of them all the time so I wasn't nervous."
JUNIOR FORWARD Brittany Mason
On the running style of play:
"I like running period. It was cool with me to have the coaches say to us to push the ball as much as possible. That keeps us going, and we just kept running."
