Women's Basketball Looks to Rebound Against No. 21 Kansas

HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team will not have to wait long for the chance to erase the memories of Sunday's loss to Princeton as it is back in action Tuesday night when No. 21 Kansas pays a visit to Hofheinz Pavilion at 7 p.m. The contest will be a major test for the Cougars as they try to build a postseason-worthy resume and continue preparations for upcoming start of Conference USA play.
Fans who come early to Tuesday's contest will be rewarded because the first 250 fans through the doors at Hofheinz Pavilion will receive a free t-shirt.
Among the players to watch for the Cougars are standout guard Brittney Scott who has developed into an explosive scorer. The junior from Orange, Texas, led the Cougars during their last home contest with a 23-point performance against Princeton. Additionally, she leads UH in scoring for the season and has averaged 27.5 points in her last two home contests.
Sophomore guard Porsche Landry has also found her groove at the point of the Cougar offense, scoring 10 points against the Tigers on Sunday and dishing out at least five assists in each of her last four contests.
Tuesday meeting will be the second for Houston against a ranked team this season, having already faced then-No. 7 LSU in Baton Rogue, La., last month. The Jayhawks field a strong team in head coach Bonnie Hendrickson's sixth season, a squad that is coming off a WNIT finals appearance last season.
Kansas enters the contest with an 8-2 record and is led by senior standout Danielle McCray. The guard/forward from Olathe, Kan., leads the Jayhawks with a 20.2 point per game average while also chipping in 6.7 rebounds a contest.
KU leads the all-time series with Houston 5-0, including a 73-56 win over the Cougars a year ago at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan.
