Volleyball Swept at UTEP, 3-0

El Paso, Texas - The University of Houston volleyball team lost a three set match, 3-0 (27-25, 25-15, 25-8) Friday night in the second of two matches against the Miners this season.
Freshmen Chandace Tryon and Jasmine Terry led all Cougars with seven kills apiece. Freshman Tara Roenicke added 24 assists, while senior Alik Cardoso de Sa had a team-high eight digs.
With the loss, Houston falls to 9-20 on the season and 6-8 in Conference USA action. They also fall to 9-4 in the all-time series with the Miners. Earlier this year the Cougars swept UTEP at the Athletics/Alumni Center.
Houston came up short in the first set, 27-25. They led by as many as five points with the scoreboard reading 21-16 but the Miners battled back knotting the score 24-24 before eventually securing the win. UTEP went on the use the momentum from the first set comeback to top the Cougars 25-15 in the second set.
In their final attempt to continue the match, UH would be held to just eight points, their lowest point total of the season en route to a 25-8 loss.
Houston will then travel to Tulane on Nov. 8 for a 1 p.m. match against the Green Wave. The match will be taped to air on CBS College Sports on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. Jason Knapp and Anne Marie Anderson will be calling the action.
