Keenum, Onobun Honored C-USA Players of the Week

University Of Houston Junior quarterback Case Keenum and senior tight end Fendi Onobun earned Player of the Week honors, Conference USA office announced Monday.
Onobun earned C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week award after blocking two extra-point attempts in the Cougars' victory. One of those kicks was returned by Nick Sanez 100 yards for a two-point defensive conversion. Onobon's efforts resulted in a four-point swing for the Cougars. He is now tied with L.J. Castile for the team-lead in blocked kicks (2).
Keenum was honored as the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week after his career-best game. Keenum was 44-of-54 for 559 yards and five touchdowns, and his performance was the fifth highest in Houston single-game history.
Keenum led the Cougars offense on six touchdown drives that spanned over 70 yards. The final drive for Keenum and the Cougars offense took place with the two teams tied at 43-43 and 57 seconds left in the game. He went 5-of-5 for 62 yards and one touchdown in just 37 seconds. It was the fourth time that Keenum has led a last-minute rally for a score when the Cougars are tied or trailing.
Houston has earned ten C-USA Player of the Week awards, more than double the next highest total in conference . Four different Cougars have won a defensive Player of the Week award (senior cornerback Brandon Brinkley, senior linebacker C.J. Cavness, sophomore defensive tackle David Hunter, junior cornerback Jamal Robinson. Two different Cougars have won special teams player of the week (sophomore returner Tyron Carrier, senior Fendi Onubon).
Keenum has won four C-USA offensive Player of the Week awards this season and seven during his career. He is now tied with Tulane's Shaun King and DeAngelo Williams of Memphis for most awards in a career.
UCF senior defensive end Bruce Miller earned the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award.
College Football Performance Awards
Keenum was also awarded the CFPA National Performer of the Week and Quarterback Performer of the Week awards. This was the first time that Keenum has taken home the CFPA National Performer of the Week and his second Quarterback Performer of the Week award. In addition, Keenum has been selected as Honorable Mention three times.
Junior wide receiver James Cleveland joined Keenum in the CFPA awards by being selected as an Honorable Mention for Wide Receiver Performer of the Week. This was the third time Cleveland has been an Honorable Mention this season.
Cleveland set a new career-high for receiving yards in a game with 190, while his two touchdowns equaled his previous high.
