HOUSTON - Riding a four game winning streak in fall action, the University of Houston softball team is set to compete in the Spring Klein Girls Softball League College Classic, the last fall tournament of the season, on Oct. 3-4 at Collins Park in Spring, Texas.
"We are looking forward to our last weekend out," head coach Kyla Holas said. "We are dealing with some injuries but are ready to have a real evaluation point to take back into individuals and prep us for the season."
After notching a 16-2 victory over Galveston College at last week's Sugar Land College Classic, the Cougars will once again face the Whitecaps on Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. matchup with Texas. Last season, Houston played a double header against UT. After falling 2-1 to the Longhorns in the first game, UH came back to shutout Texas, 5-0.
Houston wraps up the weekend in a tilt against Baylor at 1 p.m. and Stephan F. Austin at 3 p.m. The Cougars played Baylor last in the regular season in a double header, beating the Bears 2-1 in the first matchup and 9-4 in the second game.
The Cougars will begin the regular season Feb. 12-14 in the Marriott Houston Hobby Classic at Cougar Field.
