Conference USA announced that Case Keenum has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Keenum, who was also named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week three times in 2008, is one away from tying the league record for most Offensive Player of the Week awards in a career (7), set by Tulane's Shaun King (1995-98) and matched by DeAngelo Williams of Memphis (2002-05).
Keenum completed 33-of-46 passes for 371 yards and two touchdowns in the 44-16 victory against Tulane. Keenum extended his own school record of throwing a touchdown pass in 22-consecutive games. Andre Ware held the previous record of 18. Keenum also extended another school record of his own notoriety by passing for over 300-yards for the 19th time his career.
Keenum and the Houston offense got out to a sluggish start and scored a season-low of nine points in the first half. But the second half saw Keenum lead the Houston offense on five consecutive touchdown drives before the Cougars assumed victory formation and ran out the clock.
Keenum's total of 371 yards was the third lowest total of the season yet still good enough to be the 36th best single game total through Week 7. Keenum currently has six performances that rank in the top-50 in single game passing yards.
Tulsa sophomore DB DeAundre Brown was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week and East Carolina junior WR/KR took home the honor for Special Teams Player of the Week.
