Soccer Concludes Last Home Stand of the Season

HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team concludes its last home stand of the season this weekend against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the UCF Golden Knights.
Houston (3-8-2, 1-3-2 Conference USA) squares off against Southern Miss (4-8-0, 0-6-0 C-USA) at Robertson Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. The match marks the 11th time the two programs have met with the all-time series standing at 8-0-2 in Houston's favor. The Cougars have recorded 18 goals against Southern Miss and have allowed only eight. Last season, Houston posted a 1-0 win over the Golden Eagles in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The Cougars will end their home schedule against UCF (10-3-1, 5-1-0 C-USA) at the Carl Lewis Complex on Sunday at 1 p.m. This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools, a series in which the Golden Knights are undefeated against UH, outshooting the Cougars 11-3. Last season, UCF scored a series-high six goals against Houston.
Sunday also marks Senior Day for the Cougars. Before the game, Houston coaches and staff will honor the three active seniors - Stephanie Beyelia, Nikki Echeverria and Christine Nieva.
UH then hits the road for the remaining three games of the season. The Cougars travel to El Paso, Texas to face UTEP on Oct. 23 before visiting Colorado Springs in a tilt against Colorado College on Oct. 25. Houston returns to the Bayou City to square off against cross-town rival Rice on Oct. 30.
