Softball Finishes Week One of Practice with Scrimmage Friday

HOUSTON--With a week of practice behind them, the University of Houston softball team will play a scrimmage at 2 p.m. on Friday at Cougar Softball Stadium.
The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
The Cougars are practicing in preparation for the Cathedral City Kickoff in Cathedral City, Calif., where they will play No. 17 California (Feb. 6 at 12 p.m.), UC-Riverside (Feb. 6 at 2:30 p.m.), James Madison (Feb. 7 at 2:30 p.m.), No. 14 Fresno State (Feb. 7 at 8 p.m.) and Oregon State (Feb. 8 at 11 a.m.).
Fresno State is the only team that the Cougars have played in the program's nine-year history. Last season, Houston beat Fresno State 3-0 in the Bulldog Classic in Fresno, Calif., and 1-0 in a mid-week game.
UH is now 2-0 all-time against Fresno State.
Houston will host a pair of tournaments, the Marriott Houston Classic (Feb. 13-15) and the Marriott Houston Invitational (Feb. 20-22).
