HOUSTON-- The University of Houston football team continued preparing for this weekends game at Oklahoma State after a win against Southern.
The Cougars practiced in pads and shorts for about two hours on the practice fields in cooler weather due to partly cloudy skies.
Houston meets Oklahoma State at 6:05 p.m., Saturday, when at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cougars (1-0) beat Southern Saturday 55-3, which was the biggest win by a first-year head coach at UH. Head coach Kevin Sumlin said that the team continues to prepare as they do for every game week.
There are some things the team will work on, but for the most part the team prepared this week the same as they did last week.
"We have to come away, in these games coming up, with touchdowns. We have to eliminate pre-snap penalties. We were able to bail ourselves out, but we put ourselves behind the eight ball a couple times. Aggressive things are going to happen, penalties after the play but we have to eliminate the ones before the snap. That's all individual. Those are misalignments and jumping offside or things like that that players control and we need to eliminate those." Sumlin said.
Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, Ted Pardee providing color analysis and Jeremy Branham reporting from the sidelines. The pregame show is slated to begin one hour before kickoff. Fans also can follow live stats over the Internet by clicking the Gametracker link at UHCougars.com.
