HOUSTON - University of Houston head volleyball coach Bill Walton announced the hiring of Alisha McKee to the volleyball staff earlier this summer. McKee joins the Cougars as an assistant coach under Walton and assistant coach Gabi Carbone where she will help with on-court coaching duties and help in the recruiting process.
"Alisha brings a great enthusiasm for the game. She is a very intelligent and highly skilled player who will transfer that experience to the court as a coach. The daughter of a coach, Alisha, has the genes and temperament to be a great coach," Walton said.
McKee comes to Houston after graduating from Fresno State University in May 2008. There she was a member of the Bulldog volleyball team and was a 2007-08 WAC All-Conference Second Team selection. She also earned Academic All-WAC honors and was a three-time Fresno State Scholar-Athlete.
McKee spent time as a club coach for the Madera Volleyball Club and for Red Wave Extreme Volleyball. She also assisted with Fresno State Volleyball Camps while she was a student-athlete.
During the spring semester in 2007, McKee interned with the Fresno State Marketing Staff. Prior to coming to Houston, she was an intern with the Fresno Street Saints.
