HOUSTON - In anticipation of large crowds for this weekend's football season opener, the University of Houston Athletics Ticket Office will stay open for extended hours to accommodate fans wishing to purchase tickets.
The Ticket Office will open at 8 a.m., Friday and remain open until 8 p.m. On Saturday, fans can purchase tickets inside the Athletics/Alumni Center from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and at Robertson Stadium from 3:30 p.m. through the game at Robertson Stadium.
"We are expecting a near-capacity crowd for Saturday's game and want to provide all fans additional opportunities to get tickets in hand before the gates open," said Mike Rea, assistant athletics director for ticket operations. "We encourage fans to purchase their tickets early to avoid the possibility of long lines at the stadium."
The Ticket Office will be open during regular business hours Monday through Thursday.
Fans who are unable to visit the Ticket Office always can purchase tickets online 24 hours a day at UHCougars.com.
The Cougars open their season at 6 p.m., Saturday, when they play host to Southern on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. Ticket prices are $60 for Cougar Pride seating, $30 for reserved seating and $20 for upper end zone general admission.
Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, David Klingler providing color analysis and Chuck Brown handling reports from the sideline.
