LINCOLN, Neb. -- Junior Seun Adigun, sophomore Jason Perez and freshman Tyrone Carrier all secured automatic bids to compete at the NCAA Championships during the second day of the 2008 NCAA Midwest Regional meet on Sunday in Lincoln, Neb.
Adigun finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.43 in the finals. Finishing in the Top 5, Adigun automatically qualified for the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The 2008 Conference USA Champion in the 400-meter hurdles, Perez finished fifth in the finals with a mark of 50.37 to earn a bid to compete at the NCAA Championships.
Competing in just his first career NCAA Regional meet, Tyrone Carrier finished second in the 200-meter dash by running a season-best time of 20.60 to qualify for the national championships.
Also qualifying were the men's and women's 4X100-meter relay teams. The men's team of Carrier, freshman Ed Turner, freshman Steven Jones and senior Tremaine Smith finished fifth with a season-best time of 39.85.
For the women, junior Dayo Ogunniyi, freshman Kalyn Floyd, sophomore Quin'shundolyn McPherson and Adigun finished in third with a mark of 3:36.71. In the 4X100-meter relay, the same foursome finished in sixth place with a time of 45.00.
In the men's pole vault, sophomore Alex Bentley set a personal record with a clearance of 5.21m (17-01.00).
Freshman Chris Carter finished in ninth place in the men's triple jump competition, leaping 15.31m (50.02.75).
In other field events, Caresir Hamilton cleared 12.33m (40-05.50) in the women's triple jump.
Kiara Pulliam posted a mark of 13.78m (45-02.50) in shot put, while Brittani Williams added a mark of 39.63m (130-00) in the javelin.
Brandon Hubbard finished with a mark of 49.96m (163-11) in the men's discus throw.
In the team scores, the men finished in 14th place with a total of 18 total team points. The women finished in 16th place with 14 total points.
Following the Regional, athletes who qualified for the NCAA Championships will have two weeks to prepare for the meet , which will be held June 11-14 in Des Moines, Iowa.
