Softball Earns No. 8 National Seed In NCAA Championship

HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team earned the No. 8 National Seed in the 2008 NCAA Softball Championship and will play host to the Houston regional from May 16-18 at Cougar Softball Stadium.
Regional No. 1 seed Houston (50-9) will face off against No. 4 seed Delaware State (29-23) and 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets won the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title and will be making its first NCAA Championship appearance.
The Cougars earned an at-large bid to the tournament after falling in the Conference USA Championship game to UCF 4-2, on Saturday. Along with the Knights who won the league's automatic bid, East Carolina and Tulsa earned at-large bids to the Championship.
No. 2 Washington (28-23-1) and No. 3 Texas (28-21-2) will meet in the other opening round game in Houston at 5p.m. on Friday.
The double-elimination tournament will begin Friday and run through Sunday.

All-session passes are priced at $25 for adults and $15 for youths (ages 3 to high school). Single-session ticket pricing will be announced once the full regional schedule is released.
Single-session tickets will be available starting Friday 1 hour prior to the first game at the Cougar Softball Complex ticket windows. Only cash is accepted at the Cougar Softball Stadium ticket windows. All seating at Cougar Softball Stadium is general admission.
