HOUSTON -- The University of Houston baseball team returns to action at 6:30 p.m. (CDT) Friday, opening a three-game, weekend series against San Francisco at Cougar Field.
The series continues at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, before concluding with the series finale at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Houston (10-5) enters Friday's game after posting wins in a pair of midweek games against Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State. The Cougars have won three-straight and have tallied victories in six of their last seven games.
Sophomore southpaw Wes Musick will take the mound for Houston against the Dons in the series opener. Musick is a perfect 3-0 on the season, posting an ERA of 1.25 and fanning 18 batters in 21.2 innings.
In his last start against UC-Santa Barbara on March 7, the Lufkin native pitched a season-high eight innings of one run ball, surrendering only five hits and striking out six.
The senior duo of first baseman Bryan Pounds and leftfielder Jake Stewart are powering the Cougars' offensive attack.
Pounds leads Houston with a .449 batting average, blasting a team-high 4 home runs and plating 16 RBI in just 13 games. He has hit safely in each game this season and is currently on a career-long 15 game hitting-streak, dating back to last year.
After missing most of last season due to injury, Stewart is healthy and has added needed power to the top of the Cougars' lineup. This season, he is hitting .411 with two home runs, six doubles and a triple, tallying 37 total bases.

Senior right-hander Mitchell Bialosky is scheduled to toe the rubber for San Francisco in the series opener. Biolosky has an 0-2 record with an ERA of 5.40, surrendering 13 runs in his three starts this season.
