Volleyball Concludes 2008 Season on Saturday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team closes out the 2008 season on Saturday with a 7 p.m. match against TCU at the Athletics/Alumni Center.
Houston (19-12) is fresh off its appearance in the 2008 Conference USA Championship. The Cougars were seeded fourth in the championship and received a first round bye. UH defeated Tulsa, 3-1, in the second round and lost to eventual champion, Tulane 3-2 in the semifinals.
For her performance at the championships, senior Justine Farmer was named to the All-Tournament team. Prior to the tournament, Farmer and sophomore Lucy Charuk were named to the All-C-USA First team and freshman Ingrida Zauere was named to the All-Freshman Team. Senior Kelsey King was awarded for her performance in the classroom with her second consecutive selection to the All-Academic team.
This will be the eighth overall meeting between Houston and TCU, with the Cougars holding a 6-1 lead in the all-time series. The two programs last meet in 2004, with the Horned Frogs taking their first ever win against the Cougars, 3-2.
TCU is 20-10 this season after being swept by New Mexico in their conference season finale. They will also play Rice on Friday at 7 p.m. as part of their trip to Houston.
