Volleyball Earns Fourth Seed at C-USA Championship

HOUSTON - After finishing with a 10-6 mark in Conference USA and an 18-11 overall record, including four-straight wins, the University of Houston volleyball team was awarded the fourth seed in the C-USA Championships on Nov. 20-23 in Memphis, Tenn.
The Cougars are one of four teams who received a first round bye, and they will play the winner of the game Thursday between No. 5 Tulsa and No. 12 East Carolina at 2 p.m. on Friday.
This is the seventh time that the Cougars have earned a first-round bye at the C-USA Championship and have advanced to the Championship match three times. Their only tournament win came during the 1997 season.
Tulane was named the top seed after finishing the season with a 24-5 record and a 15-1 C-USA mark, while UAB and Rice were named the No. 2 and No. 3 seed, respectively.
Tournament play will continue through Sunday with the Championship match scheduled for 2 p.m. and will air live on CBS College Sports. Calling the action will be Jason Knapp, while Ann Marie Anderson will serve as the color commentary.
