HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team continued preparations for the team's upcoming Thursday night match-up against Conference USA-rival UAB, hitting the UH practice fields for nearly two hours on Monday.
The Cougars (2-3, 1-0 C-USA) are coming off a bye week following their 41-24 road win over then No. 23 East Carolina on Sept. 27 in Greenville, N.C.
Head coach Kevin Sumlin was excited to get his team back into a normal routine and hitting the field at home in front of a national television audience.
"I'm very excited to get back on the field and play a game," Sumlin said. "We've had a chance to heal up and get back to a normal practice routine. But we're ready to play.
"We also are extremely excited to be at home on national television. We need our fans to come out and give us a true home field advantage. We want them to come early and be loud."
Thursday's game against the Blazers will kickoff at 7 p.m. and can be heard live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by action, Ted Pardee and David Klingler providing the color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sidelines.
The pregame show is slated to begin one hour before kickoff.
In addition, the game will air live on CBS College Sports (DirecTV channel 613/Dish Network channel 152) with Carter Blackburn as the play-by-play with Aaron Taylor providing the analysis.
